6th Grade Math & Science Teacher

Benjamin loves experiments and hands-on activities in and outside the classroom. He is a musician, science fiction aficionado, and runner. He has lived in Chicago for 5 years, but is originally from New York. Chicago music and art history are two of his favorite parts of living in this beautiful city.

What is your favorite place in the world and why?

Libraries. They are places filled with thousands of years of human experience that are available immediately.

Who do you admire most and why?

N.K. Jemisin. She is a science fiction author who was the first African-American woman who won the most prestigious science fiction writer's award. She works full time as a college counselor for first generation college students, but still manages to write 10,000 words a day. Her discipline and commitment to social justice is an inspiration.

Do you have any secret skills or hidden talents that most people don't know about?

I am double jointed in my toes and play the violin regularly.

What are you passionate about?

Teaching students about the powers of using math and science for human development.

My favorite thing about working at Namaste Charter School is...

The students. Their humor, engagement, and amazement is the reason I teach.
