6th Grade English Language Acquisition & Social Studies Teacher
Lindsey Stotis attended college at University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire where she studied Elementary and Special Education. After college, she taught for five years in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 2016, she moved to Chicago and began teaching at Namaste. In 2018, she finished her English as a Second Language Endorsement which has helped her better serve the students she teaches at Namaste. Her goal is for all of her students to be equipped with essential reading skills needed to help them in their future. Additionally, she hopes every student that is in her classroom has a positive experience with reading that sets them up to be life-long lovers of literature!
What is your favorite place in the world and why?
The Upper Peninsula of Michigan - I went to a camp there nearly every summer and now parents have a small cabin there. It's so beautiful and peaceful - a perfect place to rest and enjoy nature!
What is a mantra you strive to live by?
This quote from C. S. Lewis: "Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less.”
Do you have any secret skills or hidden talents that most people don't know about?
I played violin for 12 years growing up!
Who was your favorite teacher and why?
My first grade teacher Mrs. Cooper - she always noticed when I was doing something well and made sure to praise me for it. She helped me build a positive mindset about reading that helped me throughout the rest of my schooling.
My favorite thing about working at Namaste Charter School is...
I love that Namaste allows me the flexibility to respond to my students needs emotionally, physically, and academically. I feel empowered to try out new strategies and ideas in my classroom to help my students continue to grow!
