3rd Grade Monolingual Teacher
Kristin Sroka is a third grade teacher at Namaste Charter School. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in LaGrange, Illinois. Her family is a big part of who she is today. Growing up, she lived with her parents and two older brothers. They would enjoy watching sports together and having BBQs when it is warm out. Most of her best friends are people she grew up with. She and her fiancé just moved to Pilsen and love it! They have a dog named Aria and a cat named Maximus. Kristin went to Eastern Illinois University for her undergrad and recently got her masters at University of Illinois at Chicago! She has taught pre-school through high school (but 3rd grade is her all-time favorite!). She recently got engaged and is getting married this May in Tulum, Mexico!
What is your favorite place in the world and why?
Any where with a beach! I love the sound of waves crashing and enjoy relaxing with a good book.
Where would you most like to travel to and why?
A goal I have is to visit every continent in my lifetime. So far I have been to North America, Asia, and Europe. I appreciate seeing and experiencing other cultures. I love to meet new people, learn their language, and enjoy eating their delicious cuisines. When you explore a new place where the language and culture is unfamiliar, it truly makes your more aware and appreciative of your surroundings.
What is a mantra you strive to live by?
Learning is Growing!
I feel my very best when...
I make a goal, stick to it, go above and beyond it, and achieve it!
Who was your favorite teacher and why?
My favorite teacher was Mr. Sloane. He was my high school math teacher. He taught me that struggle was okay. He pushed me to always do my very best and made me realize results do not happen with just sitting around. He taught me the importance of working hard and not giving up.
