5th Grade Monolingual Teacher

Craig Scanlon is the 5th grade monolingual teacher. A native of Columbus, Ohio, he graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio with a degree in Political Science and Religion. In 2009, Mr. Scanlon entered the field of education as a Teach for America (TFA) corps member serving in Chicago’s North Lawndale and Englewood neighborhoods. During the TFA program, he received his Master of Arts in Teaching from Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois. Mr. Scanlon also completed the University of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) leadership program and graduated with Master of Arts in Education Administration. He comes to Namaste from St. Joan of Arc School in Evanston, Illinois where he was the school’s principal. Before his school leadership position, he taught 4th grade for 5 years. Mr. Scanlon lives in the Uptown neighborhood with his wife Krista and son Asher. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, exercising, and traveling.

Do you have any secret skills or hidden talents that most people don't know about?

I enjoy singing and even auditioned for American Idol.

What has been your greatest adventure?

Marriage and fatherhood.
