Namaste Charter School is growing!

In early 2009, Namaste Charter School embarked on a large-scale current building renovation and 13,000 square foot building addition. In September, Namaste students and staff returned to a fully renovated building, including all new heating and air-conditioning (a must for a year-round school!), gymnasium and yoga studio renovation, and fully modernized electrical and lighting upgrades.
In early 2010, Namaste's new building addition will be completed. The addition allows Namaste to expand to include a middle school; in Fall 2009, Namaste matriculated its first sixth grade class and will continue adding one grade each year through 2011, when capacity will be reached at 450 Kindergarten through eighth grade students. Highlights of Namaste Charter School's completed building project are:
- Seven additional classrooms to support Namaste's dual language, literacy, mathematics, healthy lifestyles, and Peaceful People curriculum
- An elevator and other upgrades to make the school ADA-accessible, allowing all students and families to attend Namaste
- A new library to accomodate the needs and interests of all K - 8 students
- Enhanced Special Education facilities
- Additional administrative space
- Existing gymnasium and yoga studio renovation and a new middle school-specific fitness center to provide every Namaste student with daily morning yoga, recess, and 60 minutes of Physical Education
- An expanded kitchen for daily healthy breakfast and lunch (including a salad bar option!)
- Increased space and resources for the Family Center, to reach Namaste families and community members alike
